COLORS OF APPALOOSAS ON EQUIVERSE
The colors of Appaloosas on Equiverse are pretty basic with a few other modifiers thrown into the mix, which always makes things interesting. They are not by far the most highly colored horse breed on EV, but things may tend to get confusing when putting multiple modifiers together. I'll just be doing a short outline of the base coat colors and modifying genes that Appaloosas on Equiverse.org can currently carry.
CURRENT COLORS
Base Colors
Black - (EE aa or Ee aa)
Bay - (EE AA, EE Aa, Ee Aa, or Ee AA)
Chestnut - (ee AA or ee Aa)
Light Gray - Light Dappled Gray - Dark Dapple Gray - Fleabitten Gray - Extensive Fleabitten Gray - Steel Gray - (GG or Gg)
Gray is a dominant modifier, so it masks all other colors that the horse could have. However, if your horse was Heterozygous Gray (Gg), only containing one Gray instead of the full two genes, there would be a 50% chance that it could be bred out by the next generation.
Modifying Colors
Dun (DD or Dd)
Roan (RR or Rr)
Cream (CCcr or CcrCcr)
Roan will always be represented the same way on a horse. Cream and Dun are a bit trickier depending on the base coat of the horse and any other addition of other modifiers.
CURRENT PATTERNS
Solid (lplp) - Leopard (LpLp) - Snowflake (LpLp) - Fewspot (?) - Solid Blanket (Lplp) - Spotted Blanket (Lplp) - Mottled (Lplp)
RECODE
Abbey is in the process of fully recoding the game, and with that means new updates on the horses! Appaloosas will get new horse artwork AND a rework on the genes, which is why I personally picked them. The genes are a little wonky as it stands right now, but with the new recode, Lp and PATn genes will be represented for the Appaloosas in a more correct way
Here is a preview of what the Appaloosa artwork will look like after the recode is complete (no pattern examples yet!)
Here is a Generator about the Lp and Patn genes - Lp and PATN
Here is a pretty informative link with pictures about Lp Complex - Lp Complex
